My Experience Learning About Black Holes

I have always been interested in black holes because they are some of the most mysterious objects in space. While learning about them, I discovered that a black hole is an extremely dense object with gravity so powerful that even light cannot escape. Stellar black holes usually form when the core of a massive star collapses near the end of its life.

I also learned that scientists classify black holes by their mass. These groups include stellar-mass, intermediate-mass, and supermassive black holes. Supermassive black holes are found at the centers of most large galaxies and can have millions or billions of times the Sun’s mass.

One fact that surprised me was that a quasar is not a separate kind of black hole. It is a very bright region created when matter heats up while falling toward an active supermassive black hole. Learning about TON 618 also showed me how enormous black holes can become.
